    Those are PAC's.

I was referring to Comp's. A lot of the big HP cars are running Comp 921's. They're making big, big numbers and the springs are lasting over 40k miles. It's recommend that's when you change them out though.

Skeet's are the only 921's I've heard of failing. But I've personally seen the trunion upgrades for stock rockers about a half an inch off. Multiple FAST intakes that simply do not fit. Heard of a few cams, that are varying in spec from cylinder to cylinder.

Those aren't 921 springs there 926 comp newest and badass spring. They begged me to use them, they were so right for my setup for the seat pressures we needed and the base being 1.300. Yeah right comp thanks for destroying a 5k setup. I wont use none of there anymore not even there cams .. this is the second set of springs I've heard breaking. Thanks to Pac they made my new springs

just took stuff apart. NO IDEA WTF the noise was coming from. The springs all look to be good unless its an inner spring that broke? The noise was DEF coming from the passenger side head and over 2000 rpm. The car the last pull i did on it going to third fealt very weak in comparison to its normal feel.

Drained the oil, cut the filter open. Oil clean, filter looked fine. The motor actually looks great inside AFAIK from just looking at it.

The push rods are all straight and look like new, the rockers all move freely and seem to be perfect. I took one of the rocker nuts off, and there were some metal debris on the threads and what looked like a small piece of metal stuck to them. I used my tactical flashlight and looked in to see if the spring was cracked anywhere and didnt see anything. I have no idea at this point. I even pulled off the drivers side valve cover and inspected around in there with the same results.

I guess i just need to pull the springs out regardless and check everything out. Either way, i am running a pretty big camshaft and most of my buddies are telling me the way i drive, replace the springs at 20k PERIOD. I am getting ready to do a blower, so i was going to swap the camshaft anyhow. But just the not knowing or seeing what failed is keeping me in suspense. I just didnt really want to start taking the springs out yet till ive got new ones to go in. I am a brokeass right now and use the top dead center valve on piston/crane spring tool replacement so i cant really pull it all apart till ive got something to throw back into it. At the same time, i dont know if i even want to put springs in the 243s again, parts of me think i just need afr heads (which i can afford in about 1 month)for the blower adventures and id rather put them towards that. Who knows. i just need a break. Watching the tow truck driver drag my car that sits like a desicron off the ground onto the trailer was enough for me today. I really need a beer.

Chevrolade, i saw you sent more money. Ill get that stuff ready to go brother, today has just been a rough one. Please be patient my bro-mie. Ill get you squared away. Was not expecting this fun time.

At least i can see all of the valves, lol... I guess it could be worse so far.. I had that stupid ASP wabbley underdrive pulley though, so maybe the timing chain is about done or something, who knows. I still really think an inner spring broke on these Manleys.

Either way the springs i have are Manley dual springs purchased from HPE since initially i had the megadeath cam.

I'd second replacing them at 20k...921's are the only ones I'd recommend running up to around 40k.

The inner springs can be really difficult to see if they're broken. Sucks to have to pull them all to check, but that's probably the best thing to do.

i think i am just going to get another set of these manley nextec's. I mean afterall, i just wore them out. I have a pretty large/aggressive cam, and i beat the hell out of it quite a bit. Perhaps with a blower cam i may get more miles out of em, who knows..

The spring jobs do suck, but at least its not an fbody. Id hate climbing under that cowl. The gto at least its all out in the open.
