Thread: newbi Q, 4l60 to 6l80 on a 2000 z71 is there a writeup is it worth it how hard is it?

    Anyone has done this swap. It's pretty complicated.
    Getting the tcase to adapt to the trans. Can't get serial data to talk with CAN.
    Need a controller to shift the 6speed.

    hey thx's....yeah it's a 6spd tranny...wow i better do alot of resreach...mayb forget it....lol....

    Wow, I didn't realize that he said 6l80 either.

    Serial data to CAN is a no go. You would have to swap to a later engine that has a 58tooth crank reluctor and a 4x cam. Then you would need a 4th gen ECM and harness.

    Worth it, I doubt it.

    Tech is right. You would most likely come out cheaper with a TCI 6X.

    ...Hey thx's fellas, just found a 4l80 on CL for $400. with 112k miles is that an OK Price!!!!!!!..man i feel that the l60 won't last me, i don't race my truck just haul a 18ft enclosed car trailer........
