Yeah off the shelf trannies are soooooooooooooooo insanely overpriced. I am temped to buy a trashed 4L60E and try to rebuild that bitch myself with a basic rebuild kit. Just to see if I can. Hell it be a fun waste of $80.

Oh about the 4L80E swap. Yeah that trans is pretty damn expensive to build up. You have to find (or steal, at your risk) one, rebuild it, buy a converter, install it all, add the wiring harness, and get it setup.

It will take some serious power but very expensive. I wouldn't do it unless you plan heads, cam, blower (or spray or turbo), and 5.7-7 liters of displacment.
