No reverse when hot some but insignificant when cold. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th work with 3rd and 4th slipping. When hot stops shifting 4th, if placed in 1st gear (when hot) it shifts up to second (with the lever in first gear) and stays there, this does not happen when tranny is cold.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
How many miles on the trans? Could just be time for a rebuild. Check fuses and power first. Sometimes it's worse to flush the trans. Not sure what to suggest.

4l80s have a shift sylonoid that controles reverse and third gear, also 3rd and reverse work off a band, check for tranny codes may b a sylonoid or a broke band
Just bought the vehicle with 135K, tranny has a sticker that says GM rebuild Hydramatic 6880581-5, and a green label 13MCP6, 94-089, 37651. Not sure the miles on the tranny. Pulled codes nothing about the tranny.
