Down to the same. Hell, it could even get better since your 4.8 revs up more often to get your tank moving...

my in-town mileage went from 14 to 16 when i swapped from the 4.3 to the 5.3 and only went down by 1 on the interstate.

...And everyone quit telling him to get a high stall torque converter. He wants an offroad/onroad truck. Like casey said, anything higher than a 2800 stall tc will hinder performance.
