60e's are hit or miss. Some guys have pushed 500+ through them without issue... some fail in stock form repeatedly. You can have yours built. Look up performabuilt lvl 2 and build according to that spec sheet.

If your not plannin on doing much just a few bolt ons you could do a shift kit, servos and drive sensible and the 4L60E would last a decent amount of time but if you decide to go boost, spray, or a bigger cam a built 60E or 80E would be the route and just go ahead and get it done

No plans for boost or laughing gas. I would eventually like to run a Magnacharger, but I'm a long way from that. Basically, I just want to maximize my stock 5.3 to it's full potential. I know if I go any furhter than that, I'll have to upgrade the tranny. As for now, maybe just a tune and gears. I'm still looking into which CAI to get, or even IF to get one.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I'll check into having the TM adjusted.

Allen can do an 87, 89 and 91/93 tune.

Why is this even a question? Hell, my buddy and i fabbed one for his SBC 350 using spectre parts from Oreilleys for 70-80 bucks including a K&N filter. Felt a huge difference.

    That's good. I'm running 89 octane anyway.

Well, because I've heard lots of mixed reviews and comments on the subject. I've heard lots of people tell about installing a K&N system or filter and the oil fouling the MAF sensor. My buddy installed a K&N replacement in his 04, and it fouled the MAF, then fouled the 02 sensor. I've also heard just to replace the inlet tube and leave the stock box alone. I'm trying to research this subject, but can't really find any solid answers, mostly opinions. As of now, if I had to choose a CAI, it would be the Volant system.

Cone filter and tube replacement. Don't do a retarded oiled filter.

the oiled filters suck they have to be dripping wet to catch any of the fine particles and then they just get suck into the motor anyways and youve got oily dirt all up in the throttle body and intake
