well i am a broke a$$ so the upgrade for $220 wasn't going to happen. i ended up swaping with one off my 2002 v6 (turns out its the same one, i didn't know) it fixed the problem. so went to advance and got the cheap one $89 not to bad. thank you everybody who gave their $.02 it really helped out, i love ls1truck.com.

Sounds like the rectifier in the alternator was on its way out. Good thing you caught it before it totally shorted out. I have also seen this symptom when the brushes on the alternator get worn down so far that they get sideways and dont make good contact with the commutator.
Once again you are unaware of your surrounds as this truck sadly no longer exist
