    If you are going to do it, DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! Trust me it sucks to put rod bearings in on your back under the truck when it is 30°F.

    Im going to go over the bearings. The lifter didnt actually come apart, just locked up and took a cam lobe down .045" Lifter is completely intact but the rollers face has some cam materail built up on it. whats the difference between 706 and 862 heads? I thought by the time i got 243 and had them milled down they'd be about as good as a 862?

    Goal is a DD with the most power and torque possible on a easy budget, everybodys goal right?

    I've read you can keep stock converter with the tr220, ill probably go with the 112 for the idle. either heads, arp rodbolts, the thin headgaskets...

    forgot to add, can someone inform me on lifters... just an overall knowledge between regular/ls7 etc

    I've read that GM is now using LS7's as standard replacements for all standard lifters. Why not try to find a decent set of used LS1 or LS6 rods and pistons and do a 5.7?

    just after a stout daily with good mpg...

    ls7 are stock replacement? same bore?

    i read yellow springs are all thats needed? arent duals meant to be replaced at intervals?

    ALL performance springs have a shorter life, the yellow LS6 springs are only good to .550 lift, so with the TR220 cam you'll really really be pushing them, which will make them more prone to failure. Patriot/PRC released a statement recently claiming there dual springs to have a life span upwards of 50000 miles. With that cam and if you break them in properly (a few heat cycles) they will give you a long life, and with most duals meant for use with .600+ lift it gives you room to grow. Doing valve springs sucks. And god forbid one break you'll still have one holding the valve up.
