did they swap the motor? i could be wrong but i thought the 5spd only came with the v6 and the 4.8l

no 5.3s came with a stick, either a motor swap or not a 5.3

Little bit easier to pull a plug than the head....
VERY VERY few 5.3 trucks did in fact come with a 5speed in '99 and '00 only. You'll have fun for about a week, they don't shift above 5 grand and if it doesn't have at least 3.73s the 2-3 change is just depressing. But still pull a plug and check
