    Finally ditched the ol' V6...

Well after years of criticism and slowness i finally stepped up to the V8 world.
The V6 lasted tons longer than expected but it just wasn't cutting it anymore.
I bought a complete 5.3L from a friend of a friend for a stupid deal.

On my way to wichita falls to put the motor in, the V6 knew what was going on i guess and shit out on me halfway there so i had to call a buddy to bring a trailer and rescue me.

We finally got into town and had a flat on the trailer right as we stopped for food. We said screw it and limped the trailer the last 1 1/2 miles or so to the shop. Me, Banker099, and another buddy got right to it wasting no time to get the old motor out.

    3hrs later...

Jose is cutting the V6 fuel lines to get ready for the V8 ones

The new setup is a 5.3L with an EPS cam and K&N CAI.

    another 3hrs...

and Banker099 (aka) Ryan getting the V8 harness plugged up

This is the only help i did...

All in all it took us 3 about 15 hrs of work time/tuning to get the V6 out, pull the tranny and driveshaft, install the V8, stab the tranny and driveshaft back in and tune her up for a few test drives. I made the 2 hr drive back home earlier today without any problems. Only problem is the o2's are bad so none are plugged at the moment.
I have some 862's that are P&P'd i just need a valve job and to get them milled before those go on. And im scraping up the cash for LT's/ORY.

Anyways... here's a vid of the first startup and open manifolds enjoy :chug:

all went pretty smooth, all problems we had were minor, it took me a solid 2 weeks of chasing parts to get mine going, glad it all worked out and we had everything we needed, just goes to show you, if you plan everything out and do your research the v6-v8 swap can be done in a full day of work.

Welcome to the V8 world Alex!!!

Well it helps when you have sites like this and PT.net! Idk how many times i've read the V6 to V8 conversion thread, and read ducky's (davids) V6-V8 thread. I made sure i had all the parts before attempting it. It helps to have friends who know whats going on also, and who have done the swap before. And its nice to finally be in the V8 world

Without your thread and you asking questions on the original thread this would've been a rough swap. Thanks man.
As far as turbo... I am a FI guy and that will be later on down the road. Im just building it N/A for now. Being a broke a$$ college student is a tough deal

Yeah man. I guess the V6 wasn't going down without a fight. lol Its just the cap, rotor, and wires more than likely. It was missing the entire way there but i just kept in it hoping to make it to the falls town before it died. It finally got so bad that i had no power going up the hills and i chose to pull over before i took the tranny out as well. Im glad i had the V8 to put in.
