HAHA!. That was my initial thought as well - I hate it when it's dry. But, since I'm new to this swap thing, I wanted to ask the experts.
Unfortunately, it's a 4.3 so I do need the pcm & harness, not to mention all the other misc. crap.

Ah well ok, I suggest you read the sticky on the swap. But being a 99 it's fairly straight forward. Get a 99-02 harness, appropriate mounts, all your accessories, lines, hoses etc. Best thing to do is find a wrecked truck and take everything in the engine bay. What motor you use is up to you, 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0 are all the same engine family. Me personally would go with a 6.0, either version would be good. Reason being is cost, your ACTUAL LS motors will cost an arm and a leg. A decent cam and heads on a 6.0 will outperform your LS1 and LS6 and still be a lot cheaper.

i paid 750 for a long block lq4 out of a 2005 denali. it only had 20k miles on it. got the p/s bracket and pump, water pump, fan clutch, a/c bracket. coil packs, flywheel.
just look around. your wrecking yards will be the best place to look. or just check on here or even craigslist. 99-2000 6.0 are iron block/iron heads... 01 - 07 (classic) are iron block/aluminum heads, 07 newer are alu heads/ alu block (i think...)
depending on how you want to build the motor... iron block would be your best bet. with the 6.0 block, you can swap the ls3 heads and intake assembly onto it just by bolting it on.
short block with decent rotating assemblies go for 350 +, long blocks can be found from 500+ (just besure to figure out the year the motor is from or you might run into problems if you want to swap a 4l60 versus a 4l80....
cams are your friend!!!!!

oh... forgot to tell ya... the difference between lq4 and the lq9 are the pistons... the 4 has dished pistons and the 9 has flat tops.... other than that, they are identical... the lq4 has 9.4:1 compression and the lq9 has 10.0:1 compression.
