    The servo is what makes the band grab. Sometimes adding a stronger servo helps slippage but it sounds like in your case rebuilt is needed.

    after i let it cool down later the trans acted fine????
    the 1-2 servo is the one refered to?

    pulled the pan... magnet is clean... fluid doesnt seem to bad.

    yes the servo on the right side of the transmission is the servo for 2nd and 4th. you can install the vette servo and see what it does, might tighten things up a bit, like i said servo is easy ,just MAKE SURE you completly install the snap ring completly for the servo cover when you remove it., sometimes it looks seated but its not .

    might be time for a rebuild or at least a 2-4 band

    do your have to drop the y-pipe to take the servo out?

    On my 2001 2wd all I did was jack it up and change it out.

    no you just have to remove heat shield on the passenger side of the trans, i think they are 10mm bolts and then you will see the servo cover.

    heres a good video for you to look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WpjGQnEixo if you dont have a new servo cover o ring DONT cut it like they say, just pull it hard and remove cover
