L33 engines became much more common after '05. I thought I was special too when I got mine

LOL! Yah, that extra 15hp should be just enough to feel it in the seat-of-the-pants dynomometer I'm surprised in a couple of changes I have seen in it which were not present in my Suburban, such as the electric fan. I put a Monster Fan in it and wondered why GM hadn't done something like that already. I also saw they went with the vacuum brake booster instead of the hydraboost (I think is what it's called) which the Burban came with. Stupid thing leaked ... only thing bad I ever really had to say about it.

my 06 came with the L33 good motor but bad rings and valves killed it. i just got a crate L33 put back in it i really like this motor just be careful with any bolt ons (headers, ect..) the entire block is aluminum and always use antiseize on any bolts changed or you will strip it out and be rethreading bolt holes

That's what torque specs are for. You should also clean all threads before installing bolts.

So you're saying general treatment with the aluminum? Yah, figured as much, but this is good info. Not planning on doing too much to it as I will be saving for my next vehicle ... 2012 Z28 (as long as Chevy goes through with it!) Thanks for the info.
