Lifter tick?

Will it actually go away if I replace the oil pickup o-ring? Truck has 185000km second owner and I know its not really causing any problems but i dont like noises that shouldnt be there? Any tips? Maybe 10w30 oil instead. Or should I drop the pan and replace the oring? will it go away etc? Thanks for any help!!

It'll come and go, but once a lifter ticks, it'll be there forever, maybe louder, maybe softer.
That's a lot of miles, so you got plenty out of it.

Autozone sells some rislone crap that is supposed to help. Several people have said it works pretty well. Might be worth a shot.

I remember my Lifter Tick. Now I have a new cam, lifters, and heads. As it turned out, either the cam had a poor heat treat on the no. 7 exhaust lobe or a bad lifter. Anyways, the roller and the cam lobe were both pitted and shredded. So they both got replaced. It started as a small ticking and then one day it turned into a really nasty scraping sound. I managed to find the problem lifter by letting the truck idle with one side disabled(coils and valve covers off) and then removed the pushrods one at a time until it stops

Thanks guys!! I was thinking that its the oil pickup tube? I haven owned the truck for all those K's So dont know how long its been there? Yes it does come and go etc. Ive read that the Oil pickup tube o-ring could have a small split that causes airation of the oil to the lifters causing this issue?? Any one heard of this? And thought maybe I should try changing it? But have to lower the front diff to get the pan down. So just looking for advice/experiance before doing so! Thanks

I know that some oil filters have a anti drainback valve and some don't. I have run ones without a drainback valve and at startup i had some lifter tick but switched back to a good filter with one in it and no problems at all.
