Try some Lucas additive in the oil, usually quiets it down a bit.

You said you had headers, so Im wondering if it's possibly an exhaust leak? That can sound like noisy lifters too. Ticking like a noisy injector?

I had a distinct tick before I ever put the headers on my truck. It's always been there since the say I bought it. The old screwdriver says it comes from the passenger side.

Mine have their moments, but have been generally quiet. They sound pretty smooth when the motor is up to temp

Both of ours had the tick, and both were bought brand new. And your correct its on the right side, I guess if it aint broke dont fix it. thanks for the input

Same on my 01. Noisy but no problems, goin on 220k miles.

My '00 4.8L ticks pretty good. Rislone additive or straight Castrol GTX 5w-30 quiets it down.

I kinda wonder if the stock pushrods are just slightly too short from the factory and sound as if they need a lash adjustment? (I know I know, these are non adjustable rockers, but it seems like they need to be tightened up a bit)
