The conversion is easy, pull out the 4.8 and replace with the 5.7. The biggest cost is buying the LS1. You could also go with a 6.0 they are cheaper, unless you are set on an aluminum block and heads.

Do I need to change the ECU also?
One last question,LS1's from which year will fit my 2002 sierra?
All of them. Have you read the conversion stickies yet? Probably not. 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 6.2, 7.0, and anything LSX have the exact same block. EXACT!! Its like taking your 4.8 out and putting it back in.
