Thanks fellas. The one thing I'm happy about is that it's not Iraq or Afghanistan. I'll just be driving around some of the top officers and other VIP's. There's a chance that they might want to visit places in Iraq or Afghan, but that should all be main base visits. Qatar is a non-hostile area and body armor isn't required to go off base. After 2 times in Iraq and my last Afghan deployment, this tasking makes me happy.
And with the wife gettin a job while I'm gone, I should have some nice mods when I get back.

MY local NG unit is going to Qatar. They all feel like it is the jump point to Afghanistan.

Good Luck and if I were you I would wear armor off base.

Its not that I wouldn't want to wear it... More of the fact that they want us to blend in with all the other tourists and businessmen out there. (impossible). I flew through there back in 2008 and oddly enough it was pretty much like any major city I've ever been to. Of course there are areas you want to avoid, but it seems just like a normal city. Ohhhh, and Qatar Airlines are probably the nicest I've ever flown on. Free Alcohol and a screen in every headrest with great service.
