    cam question

Hello, I would like to know what you guy's would suggest for a cam for me. I have a bone stock 6.0 LQ4 with 31K on it, and 317 heads. The engine is in a crew cab stepside 95 chevy, so it's heavy and I am not expecting a rocket, just good power to pull the truck around. I don't want to change my torque convertor in my 4L60E, and I am running 3.42 gears, I also don't want to change heads, but I know I will probably need to change valve springs, I would a nice choppy idle, but without loosing all lowend torque. Mainly I want the cam for the sound at idle for cruising around at shows which is where this truck will see most of it's time. Thanks for your input.

X2, you could also throw in some hardened push rods. The TR224 should work well for what you want.

beatdown, did you drive your truck with the cam before putting in your yank? i dont think i would do a tr224 without upgrading the stall. but i wouldnt know for sure as i did my stall before i did my cam

No, I swapped everything at once. Do you have a 6.0? Just judging by the way my truck can pull on hills at 1200 rpm, makes me think that it didn't lose too much lowend torque over the stock cam. Even with the stock stall and TR224, I'm guessing lowend power would be equivalent to a 5.3 stock cam/stall...

OK I am going to do the TR 224 cam swap, here's what I need to know, I want to make sure that this swap will work with my stock 95 stall and not damage my trans. Also does anyone have part number's and or brand's that they would suggest for valve spring's and hardened pushrod's. Thank's again!

You'll need a crankshaft spacer and flat flexplate or the Hughes crank pilot extender.

Much easier if you get the cam kit from TR instead of just the cam.
