    5.3 to 6.0 times..

I'm picking up a lq4 this friday, going to call texas speed and order a cam and tune.

my truck runs the 1/8 at 8.8 now with a 1.82 60'. its a RCSB 5.3 sierra, LTH,3500 stall 4:11, tru trac, cai, built trans. it just flat out falls on its face with the stall. How much time should i pick up with the 6l? I'm going to run a very agressive cam..

You can get the cam and tune through Nelson Performance.

1982 Silverado - just an old truck motor I had sitting around the house.

Why not just get them to tune, NOTHING beats a dyno tune, and when it comes down to it there are only TWO kinds of tunes, good ones, and bad ones. Texas speed isnt gonna give you a bad tune and neither is nelson.

That all depends really. If you're looking for numbers, sure, a dyno tune is going to be better than a street tune. If you're looking for driveablity, a street tune is better. How many serious drag racers do you know that take their car to a dyno to tune it? I guarantee you the majority drives it, pulls over, tunes its, drives it, tunes it. A dyno tune will get you closest when it comes to peak numbers... but it isn't always best for ET.

Most serious drag racers use the drag strip as their dyno. They tune for best ET while at the dragstrip. Also most serious drag racers don't waste time and money on electronic fuel injection when you can go just as quick without it. A few guys will still strap their drag cars down on the rollers though.

That was the point I was making. For ET, a dyno tune isn't always best.

I would recommend the Texas-Speed.com Torquer V.3 or the Tsunami if you're planning on going big cam. Don't get caught up in all that mail order vs. dyno mumbo jumbo. Texas-Speed.com mail order tunes are build around the results of 1,000's of dyno tunes. I believe Texas-Speed.com doesn't lock their tune like the competition. That way should you decide to personally tune it or spend more $'s to have it retuned locally they can acess it for upgrades.
