There has GOT to be something in the water in south ga.

Quick rundown. My truck got beat by a bone stock 4.8 ext cab. 3 times.

    my truck 84c10 shortbox, 5.3 swapped, th400 with a stall, 12 bolt w/ 3:73's

his truck, 100% stock 2002 gmc extended cab 2wd base model with roll up windows. stock 4.8

1st run: from a dig a leave off easy spin a little and he pulls out on me naturally but i cant pull him in, he gets me. My front bumper was at his 3rd door.

2nd run: from a 20ish roll i nail it hard, spin a little he pulls up on me about 5 foot and holds.

3rd run: 45 roll same verdict as 20 roll.

I know for a fact my truck is alot lighter and should by all means have the power to weight advantage. The only thing i see that might be hurting me is i was rolling on the 20's and he was on stock wheels.

That and he probably has a deeper 1st gear. A 4L60 or 700R4 in yours would have made the difference-maybe :-)

i would go along with that
    4l60-e: 3.06 1st gear
    t400: 2.48 1st gear
and on top of that the t400 has more parasitic power loss

No offense, but WHY would you go through the hassle of putting a 5.3 in an older truck, race it, and never bother with a tune?
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

the race was for fun and there isnt a competent tuner within 4 hours of me and i want to have it dyno tuned so a canned tune seems like a waste if its going to be over writen.
