Totally off topic...for you dog owners out there...

A lot of you have seen pictures of my dogs. This is Dagger, our Staffordshire Bull Terrier...please notice the width of his jaws in the second picture...

My wife and I were walking our dogs (another Stafford and a Dachshund). Finishing up the walk, in the alley at the end of our driveway...The neighbors behind us are in their driveway with the kids and their dog (know where I'm going with this yet?). So we're hustling up the driveway trying to get in the garage before the dog sees us, because I know it's going to come running over, not meaning any harm, and it was going to turn bad because Dagger isn't going to stand for a dog running up on him. Sure enough, it runs straight up to Dagger and Dagger doesn't growl or make a sound - he just bites. About this time the neighbors come running up the driveway but there's not really anything they can do. The dogs weren't even moving - Dagger was just holding him in place. I straddle Daggers back and he's got the dogs top jaw in his mouth. The dog is trying to pull away and it's just tearing his snout up. He manages to (literally) rip his way to where Dagger only had his nose/lip in his mouth. At this point Daggers mouth is completely shut - his teeth are all touching, he's got that much of a grip on the other dog. He's completely punctured whatever he has a grip on and there's not even room to get anything in his mouth to pry it open. I try to cut off his air supply so he'll have to let go. So I'm clamping his throat and covering his nose and he's not letting up. Here comes my wife with an Oreo. She puts it by his face and as calmly as you please just lets go of the dog like "oh cool, a cookie"....never looked back at the other dog or acknowledged it was still there. Just sat down like a good boy as if he was going to get another cookie. Meanwhile the neighbors are carrying their torn up dog down the driveway leaving a trail of blood the whole way.

My point in writing this is that if any of you have dogs that you walk without a leash or let outside without a leash because they're playful and won't start a fight or whatever - LEASH YOUR DOG.

Sad to hear about the other dog, but wtf are you supposed to do when the neighbors allow him to run into your driveway? Glad to hear it ended without any severe damage. Good boy Dagger. He's a nice lookin pup, Moze

Yep...not our fault at all. He was leashed, theirs wasn't. So even if we were off our property we were in the right. Not to mention the dog came running up our driveway which is about 75 feet long. And this all happened by the garage door. So he was all the way up.

New neighbors and they didn't know better, or just completely irresponsible for their dog's well-being?

Agreed. Nice looking poch you got there. Im at fault for never putting a leash much less a collar on Roxy, but she has her own space to roam and its not in a neighborhood.

This is my dog, ive had a few times with the same problem. I actually had a guy walk all the way up to my house with two pits on a leash. I told him to watch Chevy, my dog, as soon as i said that he lunged for them. Thank god the guy picked both the dogs up so chevy didnt grab them.

At this point in humanity's existence, leashes are a no-brainer. I mean seriously....

Just an irresponsible move on their part. I'm sure it's a friendly dog and wasn't even thinking of fighting. But if a dog runs up on a Stafford or AmStaff or APBT, they're in trouble.

Yeah your situation is a lot different - you have wide open land without neighbors dogs running around.

I'd be calling the police. That's how children wind up mauled.
