Your Yukon has a 4x4 selector switch that says auto doesn't it?

If you just want to put in a manual 4x4 case. Either a 241 or 261.

You have to take the trans completely apart (well almost) to change the output shaft.

I didn't read back through everything, but did you check the wheel bearings and the front diff? Take the front drive-shaft off and with the front wheels off the ground, rotate the diff input. If it feels sticky or rough you have a problem in the diff.

i droped the front diff and everything looked in really really good shape inside. moves freely no broken of chipped teeth.i didnt find the seal,so ill have to put it back up tomorrow.

but about the noise. i can put it in drive and stand on the brakes and hit the gas and the noise will come.ive pretty much eliminated evrything except the tranny.
