Making the rear match the front isn't an option, then they would both stick out too farMy wife is VERY picky with her vehicles, beyond the level of most car guys and she wouldn't stand for them sticking out at all, let alone the fact that it would get the truck dirty faster.
I've never heard that it was only the 4wd before though, odd. With her 15x7 TT2s it's already visible that they are out further in the front

You'd need the -11 offset from the 17x8 for the front. The 17x9.5's are 0 offset, so the hub is in the center of the rim. You need the hub more towards the wheel lip, not towards the shock tower. http://www.tirefactory.net/Torq.html
