    Performance Coated Lifters

    Hey All,

Well, I had another idea... With all the problems I've had lately with Hydraulic Roller Lifters sticking and just generally Failing, i've decided to do something crazy. We have a very reputable powder coater here in town and they do anti friction coatings for race pistons and similar applications. My idea is to disassemble a set of new lifters and get the internals and the friction surfaces on the body coated with an anti friction coating which is baked on. Kinda like the coating on pistons these days.

Let me know if you guys think this is a decent idea.

If it doesn't mess with clearances in the lifter. How thin can he put it on? I've had a few things powdercoated and if it's a precision fit you just end up grinding it off.

This stuff goes on in a single molecule thick layer. And will not affect clearances. Its the same coating thats found on all GM pistons these days. The part is machined to its finished size and the coating is applied to the finished part.

If it isn't broke don't fix it. Lifters will last for many many many miles?? I am sure if they thought this was a step that would be a plus, it would have been done.. If you are having a ton of lifter issues, I see it as a problem in another area. jmo
