    1.8 problems continued...engine failure

An update on the 1.8 problems...I pulled everything again today and to no surprise, not only had the rocker arms eaten away at the guide plate, but ALL the pushrods are bent and I haven't pulled the heads yet but I'm about 90% sure that the valves are screwed. So what was supposed to be a $250 small upgrade turns into a $600 rebuild.

everything was stock....i ordered a kit from summit and i they didn't send the washers that i needed. i didn't even realize i needed them until i had installed the rockers and tried cranking the engine. at that point it was too late. so now the pushrods are screwed

A properly designed valvetrain using 1.8 rockers works great on the LS engines.

A person should NEVER EVER just bolt on parts and fire the engine up. Checking clearances, geometry, pushrod length, valve seat pressure, coil bind, etc, should always be done. Sorry that you had to learn the hard(expensive) way.
