    The weight and rear end ratio of hot rod is going to make a difference in mileage you get

    I put a low-mileage 2007 LQ4 in my Jeep. Orignal 258 six got around 16 MPG. The Ramjet 350 I put in after that got about 12-13 MPG. With the 6.0 liter it gets about 14 MPG (and I drive it like I stole it). The 5.3 in my 99 gets around 15 MPG on average.
