Im looking to find a 6L out of the junk yard so i can start building it but i have no idea how to find out if it is a 6L truck was hopeing one of u could tell me what to look for on the vin plate to find this motor

not to mention the 3/4 - 1 Ton truck had a 6.0, duramax, or 8.1 so you can tell visually. Also the junk yard should have some sort of "inventory" and know exactly whats in each truck

It is stamped on the back right of the block and the front behind the alternator bracket. Or you could run the part number on the back of the block
