Did you seat the converter all the way during the install?

When my forward piston cracked(4L65E), my trans also made a screeching noise. It only happened in 4th gear with the converter locked.

I put a TCI Super Street Fighter 3600 stall in a Powerglide in my Camaro. When I first fired it up, it made a ridiculous screeching sound. Since i had put a new engine in at the same time, I brought the rpms up a little to break in the cam and the sound went away temporarily. After the break-in, it would only make the sound at a certain rpm so I just dealt with it. It eventually got quieter and quieter, and now it's gone.

All I know is that I definitely won't be buying a converter from TCI again...

i would think anything out of the unordinary i would be concerned about, did you take measurements and make sure the converter didnt need or needed to be shimmed to the flex plate?

I think TCI converters just suck. Google phrases like "tci converter noise", "tci converter grinding" and all kinds of crap pops up. You could also go on ls1tech.com and see what they have to say about tci, nothing good.

You could keep driving and hope it turns out like my car or pull it and install a different brand. It's up to you...

Makes you wonder how TCI has been in business so long. I've heard bad things about them too.
