    500hp 6.0?

I planning on swapping a LQ4 into my 97 Stepside Z-71 when I get my tax return next year and I'm trying to educate myself in the mean time. I want to put around 500hp the the ground but I need it to be streetable at the same time. I know that it is very possible I just am not sure what would be the best(cheapest) way to go about it. I would really like some input from some of the guys that are making that kind of power to see whats working best for you.

im guessing without power adders cus a 200 shot will get you there quick but id say cam, full bolt ons, heads and intake, will get ya close but then again just put a power adder on it.

you talking NA for FI ?

the cheapest route hook up a nitrous system and that'll barely get you there, if not then the word cheapest wont mean what it stands for when trying to attemp 500 to the wheels NA on a 6.0

my calculated track times puts me at 500+ and barely

I fully understand that it won't be cheap in anyway. I guess I'm asking for the best combo of parts without just slappin the most expensive heads/cam/intake and so on together.

without spending huge $$$'s on heads i would have to say the ls3 heads ported would be your best route. and a FAST 102 intake and 102 BIG MOUTH tb would help in a huge way, you can conserve on the heads since the ls3's flow numbers are sweet.. then surround that with a nice custom cam, it'll take the whole drivetrain to complete the whole setup though..

i have seen the l76 intake being ported flow some great numbers also

i spent the dollars around my heads which are the ls3's with leight weight valves to make my setup work..i've got every bolt on imagineable and some

I've seen a lot of people talking about 317 heads. Are they any good?

get ready to spend just as much on the drivetrain to hold all of the power.

they are good if your going FI it wil lower your compression and you can add more boost if your gonna be NA i wouldnt use the 317 heads, your gonna want more compression.
