like i had mentioned, my truck is driven about 3 days a week or so. But i want it driveable enough to take on road trips. You think the 224R is too much for the 3000 stall I have? What kind of improvement do you think the 220 would make 1/4 mi wise?

The 3k stall just isnt big enough for a 224 cam. The 220 would be better suited. with the cam and a good tune you might drop a second off you et
^^^ i guess ill give the 220 a shot...
my best so far has been 14.60... although i know it should be faster with my mods. Im pretty sure the 22" wheel/tire set up isnt helping out! lol

wish there was a way to find out for sure, without buying both cams and testing them of course

You could always Call Allen at Nelson Performance and he could custom spec you a cam.

I think the 3000 will work fine with the 224. Seen it done plenty of times. You could probably get away with a 3200 with the 228, but IMO a 3400 would be better.
Just for comparison, I ran a 223/226 in my 6.0 with a 3200 and t matched great. I stepped down to a TB stall (2600ish) and it worked, just had about a 200 rpm sluggish spot when you nailed it. not enough to be concerned with, but enough to notice
