I've heard they're the same pistons used in the 4.8 and 5.3 engines. The trick is getting the right weight piston so the engine is still balanced. Most all GM pistons are supposed to be the same weight within a couple grams. You can buy one complete rod assembly from GM with the rings already hung and ready to install.
