One thing I wouldn't like is not being able to shoot someone if they were in my house, uninvited, and have no questions asked. I wouldn't want to live in a huge city, I'm more of an outskirts kinda dude. I'm really in love with the idea of going to the beach one day and going snowboarding the other, also having more to choose from when it comes to stuff to do. I get WAAAAY too bored around here.
You should check out AZ. Yeah its a little farther to drive to the beach, but its less than a days drive. From my house I can drive a max of 6 hours in any direction and have just about any type of climate I want. Its 6 hours to San Diego, 2 hours to both of the snowboard resorts, 5 hours if you wanna go to Big Bear in Cali, 45 min to the closest lake, just about 2 hours to one of my favorite lakes. Sure it gets a little hot during the summer but thats what vacations are for. We dont get snow, it rains like 4 days a year, and the winter RARELY gets down to 35*.
