I put one in my 65 and as far as the engine/trans going in it is very straight forward, however you need the right perches ( stock will work but exhaust is a big issue) now, I purchased the tubular perches with single bolt motor mounts from CPP along with their tubular trans mount ( all this for about $200.) I also bought their LS engine plate too but you can get those just about anywhere.
You will need to get a locar cable or rod type shift mechanism, I used the rod type. A different column isnt necessary but I would advise you do that, I already had a 71 non tilt in my truck. dont forget the fuel pump, harness and ecm flash. I hope I was of some help, there is an article on 67-72chevytrucks.com by thealien that is a real help for our trucks, let me know if I can help you in any way.
