you must keep the pulley from moving as well which is why you must leave the belt on. or get a ratchet strap to keep the pully from moving.

well the belt was gone when i bought it so thats why i made the spanner and with a 15in cresent and a hammer hitting hard enough to brake concrete bits it did not budge not once but about 7 times i broke bits, steel dowl, screws, most of my effort was going to the left because that made sense to me. my next thought was sawzall and cut off tool just wondered what others did, im a firm believer of a smack over the dead pull but it just did not work this time
