? i just did the same thing in my 94 chevy.
i have a long write up about it. im not coming from a newer truck like you to a Gen IV but same purpose. i changed my cam, tensioner, deleted DOD, installed LTs an im running 05 radiator/e fan combo.
i used a Nelson Performance custom wiring harness vs a reworked stock harness. im using that same converter vs tear the motor apart.
all im waiting on is tuning/exhaust/fluids/an more time to work on it
