    stall converter recomendations

I have a 2007 gmc NBS Z71 with a L33 5.3 in it. I am installing a 210/220 cam and maybe some 1.8 rockers ? I have exhaust and cold air all that crap.... I tow a little nothing big just snowmobiles so what is a good stall for the money that will work...I really want to avoid spending $800-$1000 for a converter.

You can look at Circle D for their 278mm converter. Its only $395 and you can select between a few different stall speeds. I would personally go with the 3000-3200 option.

We can definitely help you out. Our 278mm would be perfect for your setup. We even have a special price for LS1Truck members, they are only $375.

I have never had a high stall in a lock up before I actually have a 2000 z28 with a 90mm turbo but it uses a th400 with a brake and a 4500 converter ? how does the lockup work ? Dumb question , But do I need to get the truck reprogrammed or anything ? I do quite a bit of driving do you think the 3000 rpm is too high ? I know my car feels loose until you stomp it... I just wonder how it will react ? do you feel a big difference in throttle response from the converter flashing higher ? I know my truck barely spins from a dead stop now....will it help my launch ?

Their converters are very streetable. you will need a retune for the cam anyways. If you dont have a tuner already I suggest Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability

Well finished some cam testing, I am installing a 212/218 .530/.530 113 Lunati cam to stay in the truck. I am going to buy a Circle D stall but cannot decide on the 2600-2800 or the 3000-3200rpm in the 278mm series ? I have the L33 and the stock cam starts to really pull at about 3000rpm so I would assume the 3000rpm one ? But I have 34" tires and a crew cab so ...? what do you guys think ? I want to buy this ASAP so please help me decide.

With that cam you could get by with stock converter, unless wanting to cut time. The 2800 would be high enough with that cam... especially if you pull alot or do any off roading.

Ya, The main reason for the converter is for the torque multiplication off the line and to lose that lag after it shifts..I hate when my truck shifts, feels like you dropped an anchor between gears. I don't tow much if any I sold my sleds and thats all I towed.

Sounds like torque management is a big part of your problem. I debated which size Circle D to go with, but for light towing like you mentioned, it seems that many are getting by just fine with the 3K-3.2K version. Apparently "the rule" is you'll drive for a week and wish you'd gone with the larger of any choice you made.
