    4.8 or 5.7?

My truck has a 4.8 in it right now. Cant find any 6.0s around in good shape. have the opportunity to scoop up a ls1 pretty cheap. Good idea or keep the 4.8 and put 1000 bucks into it?

basically i have 1000 bucks to spend and need opinions on what direction to go in. in the long run im shooting for 350 to 400 at the wheels no more.

I want that on motor not using any kind of boost.

Another vote for LS1. I'm currently building one for my S10. I can't wait to get it done.

LS1! I bought an ls1 to replace my 4.8 also, turns out its an ls6 from an 04 z06. It should be out of the machine shop next week. I bought it because it was an awesome deal and ls1s are just as capable as 6.0s.
