    Keniff is could be right about the heat but S&P sells a block off plate with the bung already tapped that just replaces the stock plate.

    yep they do. if i had a gen III block id ask if they have an adapter that puts the oil pressure sensor on top of the block behind the intake. no heat, no worries.

    I totally forgot I posted this question.

    I will be using the dual element water temp sensor part number 12551708. One output to the gauge and one to the pcm.

    If the original Lq4 oil sensor doesn't work with my 99 tahoe gauge then I'll just use autometer's adapter part number 2268 (1/8'' NPT to M16x1.5) for $9 on amazon shipped instead of the more expensive adapter from S&P.
