    4WD not activating

My buddy has a 99 ecsb 5.3 AT. when he puts it in 4WD it does nothing. Is it in the switch a relay or what?

The thingy-ma-bob that bolts to the transfer case...which makes the 4WD happen. (In Layman's terms. I could get technical, but that would spawn more questions.)

I have never known for a 4WD dash switch to go out. Its always the encoder motor. TRUST ME. Don't ask questions. Just replace it.

Nothing is vacuum operated on a 99 ECSB with 5.3. Only on T-series blazers & pickups.

The 99-02 had very high failure rates on the switches. If he can scan the truck and give us a code, we will be able to say switch or encoder motor. Otherwise it's just a guess.

When he pushes the switch button for 4x4, what does the switch(lights) do?
