    yeah I got a guy next door to my shop that has a 5.3 but it is buckets lol and the cheapest I can find a motor around me is $2500+ with trans then I got to buy all the other stuff so doing that cheap is out the window lol

    I think I can build the 98 vortec to put out 450hp an that's all iam really looking for. But don't get me wrong, if I had a gen3 fall in lap real cheap I would go that way.

    you can find 4.8 and 5.3 for cheap. Just a thought.

    I paid 600 for my 99 5.3 99k miles and can get the matching tranny for 650 but got a core and gonna build it myself. My engine was complete harness and accy. I sent the harness and computer to lt1wiring and had them reflashed for 300. It was all to go into a 57 chevy originally but now it is going into a 97 centurion crew cab gmc. After finding this site and changing plans I would not have sent harness to lt1 but hindsight is 20/20 I hope to get this done after the first of the year when I finish restoring my moms 56 2dr hardtop chevy. Anyway I said all that to say you can get the stuff you need for around 2k I think and be done and get away from the boat anchor 5.7 vortec. Scott
