    Any one know where to get a 160* thermostat for a 2005 5.3l ?

    You can modify the stock thermostat to open @ 168 for free I did mine and it works great. All you need is a #6 macine screw, cut the head off and file it down to .090 of an inch. Twist the peice that holds the big spring (be carfull the spring is pretty stiff) insert the .090 thousand shim in the hole make sure it seats flat on the bottom. Then just reassemble it. 168 is a cold as it can be modifed to.

    It's the one at the bottom, $19.95 plus shipping/handling. Sometimes they have specials. I think I saw it on there the other day for something around $15.95 I think.

    The extra cost is because in the pre-04' the t-stat and housing are integrated. For 04' and above it's just a t-stat. Yeah, kind of a
