No 5.7?

I see this thread is supposed to be for LSX engines but 5.7 is not listed. Ill just ask anyway since i cant find it. I feel like my main problem im having wanting to do a swap to an LS1 is i cant find a solid answer of if i can keep my 4x4 with an LS1. Anyone know, if i swap my 5.7 TBI engine to an LS1 do i have to swap to the LS1 tranny and lose my 4x4? Sorry if this is answered somewhere, i just cant seem to find it.

There is no reason why you would lose your 4wd. Why would you think so(legitimately curious, not being a jerk). And for what it's worth the lsx swaps are for the most part all the same. There are a few small differences between the gen III and gen IV engines though.

Well i read alot about people swapping LSX engines into trucks and removing the 4wd, maybe just for racing? Also, im really just starting to dive into mechanics engine and tranny wise. Wasn't too sure if i keep the stock tranny or use the one connected to my LS1.

you can use pretty much any tranny GM has ever used with these motors, just need different flew plates to connect it all together i think. theres guys on here with powerglides, TH400s, 700r4s 4l60s, 4l80s, 6l80s, t-56s, NVG 3500 and 4500s... everything, and just about every style motor in front of each trans. so you shouldnt have any problems hooking whatever trans you want to your LS1

Good to know! That sets my mind at a bit of ease now. As soon as i get some more cash ill start building my Camaros new motor and then dump the old one in the truck. I like to plan ahead, thats why i posted this even tho i currently cant do my swap.
