Put the number over 16 to find the size. -4 is about .25", -6 is about .375" (3/8"), -8 is 1/2", etc.

It's because it's also a different type of fitting. A true AN fitting will taper so be careful when installing them. If you are replacing the transmission line fittings be careful not to overtighten them or you risk cracking the housing.

Not all AN fitting are tapered. If it a flared fitting it will have straight threads If its pipe it will be tapered.

A AN flare fitting is nothing more than a 37/45 degree JIC industrial fitting.
    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.
    Step 3. torch it.

well i actually removed the tranny lines where they hook up to the radiator and ran an external tarns cooler,,but i did it with regular fuel hose and clamps,,i dont really trust that crap,,so i want to make it look clean and sturdier.

Rubber type fuel line works fine for a tranny cooler, only I like the spring typle clamps (think thats what there called) over hose clamps. Aesthetically braided stainless and -AN fittings are nicer though.
