Flywheel swap ques. 4.3/NV3500 to LSx/T56

I've got an 01 RCSB Silverado 4.3/5spd. I've searched a lot on this swap, and I think I have most of it covered, but I'm still not sure what all my flywheel options are.

    1. If I'm just swapping the LSx in and keeping the NV3500, I know I just need the flywheel/clutch for an 01 4.8L, and can use my slave. (same part#)
But 99-00 has all different part numbers than 01-up. Is it possible to use 99-00 4.8 flywheel/clutch/slave?

    2. If I'm swapping to LSx & T56, can I use the 4.8L flywheel/clutch/slave, or do I need the F-Body flywheel/clutch/slave/starter?

    3. On car-part.com The F-body flywheel cross referenced to the Vette flywheel. Is this accurate? I've found discrepancies on there before.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Chano

1 - it might be possible, but you're much better off using the 01 parts. my truck's a 99 & my 5.3 is from an 01, so i got an 01+ flywheel/clutch kit

2 - you need the f-body/vette setup. if the t56 is from a GTO, i believe you need the GTO starter, too (i read some of them are different)

3 - from what i understand, the f-body/vette flywheels interchange
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake
    99 Sierra - 5.3 / 5spd

Do the GTO T56's plug up the same as F-Body T56's?

One thing that's odd is that the 99-00 4.8 Slave w/bearing is the same AC Delco part# as the 01-up F-body slave. That's one of the reasons I was curious about the 00-99 4.8 setup. Also it's getting harder to find a new 4.8 flywheel for 01-up, and the higher cost of the F-body flywheel, etc

I guess I was mistaken, but I thought I read that the 4.8L flywheel/clutch would work with the T56. I'll have to go back and see where I got confused.

If I want to use a GTO or Vette T56 in my truck, are there any differences from the F-body T56 that will affect the swap?

i was thinking i remembered seeing that the GTO bellhousing was slightlt different where the starter goes in, but that's the only difference about mating it to the motor.

as for the 4.8/5.3 flywheel & clutch, the input shaft on the t56 has more splines than the nv3500, so the clutch disk won't go on.

i know the gearing is different in a few of them.

    Zebra, thanks for the help.

I went back through the threads on T56 swaps and found where one guy said that the 4.8/5.3 flywheel would work, but he didn't use it himself. So I'll plan on using the F body setup.

If anyone has links or sites that have more info on T56 swaps, post em up! Any help is appreciated.
