    its all about the combination you have, my x cab lq9 stock 317s runs 12.5 on motor all night long and has ran 11.62 on nos at the track. my 2007 has ly6 also fully bolt on and texas speed ported heads l92s (flos about 380)and has only hit a 13.2 on the track motor but has beat a 12.2 sec truck on the street.

    Max lift has absolutely NOTHING to do with piston to valve clearance.

    duration duration duration.

    Think of it this way.

    What is piston doing when the cam has the valve all the way open. ???
    Tip: its not sitting at the top of the cylinder.

    Its already on it's way back down the cylinder by the time the intake
    valve is fully open.

    What matters is overlap and duration.
