Well I got bored and did the following...

    TB Coolant Bypass
    EGR Tube hack down
    EGR Restrictor
    Removed Plate under open filter

I have no SES lights from the EGR restrictor, I drilled a 3/16" hole. I got some sheet gasket and made my own for it. Need to drive for a while tonight to see any concluisve difference. On the 99-01 trucks (I believe '02+ don't have EGR) the EGR valve is on the passanger side of the motor.

Well I took off that valve. Traced the gasket onto a sheet of paper, the put my paper tracing on a thin piece of aluminum...I used a 24oz MGD can that was readily available.

Basically just sandwich the aluminum part between two new gaskets. I picked up some Mr Gasket Co. shet gasket for ~$7 and made them from my paper template. You COULD buy new gaskets from the local price gouger..er..dealer but I can spend money more efficiently.

The TB is a bit cooler to the touch now...if that makes a diff or not who knows. The 1/4" ID in and out brass fitting was $1.10 at my home away from home...HOME DEPOT. lol

That air box plate...well I did not notice any power differene with it off. I did suck up a TON of bugs so I shook out the filter and put the plate back in. This has been off for a few weeks and decided to post my thoughts on it here. As Hodgee said it is like a "street vacuum"! hahaha.

So far it SEEMS throttle response is better, that's really all. Maybe from idle to 2500rpms. I need to get an unbias opinion on it so I'll get my Pops to drive it and see if he can tell a difference. Ah well, I will get his opinion and toss it up here.

    Later all!

That's exactly the kind of mods i would love to do and prove on a dyno, ahh, someday i'll have it. until then i guess we need to do the seat of the pants dyno.

i'm sure you had to pick up something from the mods, and cooler air means more hp.

too bad someone doesn't have real dyno results, that would nice,

    thanks for post,

Sounds like a fun project! I would think you made a difference in performance with those mods.

Not sure power wise if it made too much difference or not, it seems a bit better idle-2500rpms. I won't know if I picked up any MPG for about a week, but from my miles vs gas gauge it seems a bit better...like .5-1mpg more.

I would assume that from the combustion being more effiecient now that more useable air is being burned not exhaust.

I would like to know how much those mods are worth. With all the bolt on I did and Free mods I was not happy with my numberson the dyno. Time to get some tuning to the PCM. I would like to sent to Allen but I want to be able to do it myself. (I think) in Houston and he run rich were he lives. I would like to know it was step up for were I live. Allen from the post you got you do a great job on LS1 Edit but I would like to be able to do myself.

Yes I found out the hard way. I know if I get asked what to do first is buy a programmer. It is needed. With all my bolt on I need a programer to get the most of them. I dyno tuned with K&N air gen II and flowmaster 40 single in duels out at 217 and added rest of bolt on and gain to 239. I was hoping for better. I had to run in second gear so next time need third and some good number. Need to adjust n20 to run better. Trans problems because I can not adjust programing. If I can not get friends to get LS1 edit I will be getting myself for programming. These engines and Trans need to be programmed for opt. performance.

I'm sure you'll dyno more than that once you get everything lined out.
Too bad you don't live a little closer. I'd love to tune that truck. Trucks always come out good.

Maybe i'll post something like full tunes for $xxx0 for all members, i wonder how many of ya'll would go for that.

Matter of fact, i'll post something right now, hahahah,

good luck on the mods, you're heading in the right direction, i bet it comes out good,

    Thumbs up

I live in san diego,CA and had Allen tune my truck . My truck kicks ass!!! Especially the shifting!! I love how Allen set up the line pressure. The truck shifts hard all the time , but if I want to intimidate someone I just push the tow/haul button and chirp the tires from a 0-20 start at just a casual roll!!!

A tire bark going that slow is pretty hard-core on the internals. They do not react well to shock loads. Be weary doing this
