What trans do 1997 trucks used?

I'm about to buy a 1997 4x4 Silverado 1500, I know a lot about cars, but didn't do too much homework on trucks.

Do they run the 4l60e? I ask because the truck I'm about to buy has clutch slippage in 4th gear, so I'm guess I need a new 3-4 clutch pack?

Also, anything else auto trans related I should look for would be great, I'm used to the T56, so this is kinda new to me.

yes a 4l60e. My 97 has one. IMO get a 4l80e and attatch an LSX to it.

Well, it'll just be my DD and tow truck for my 68 project Camaro. It's getting the LSX treatment, though
