Well, yersterday I installed the TransGo shift kit. I did want a firm 1-2 shift but with any acceleration at all and the tires bark. It's too much.

I put 2 washers in the 2nd accumulator and now I think I will take the pan off and take one of the washers (spacers) out. I was wondering though, can I take all of the spacers out to soften up the 1-2 shift?

    Thanks,
    GM

PS I would love to have the 1-2 shift this firm in my Camaro SS, but I'm afraid that when towing my fifth wheel that with the shift this firm, it might damage the rearend.

Dump both of them. A very firm shifting 60E at low throttle is bad, this goes for your truck or Camaro. You'll damage a whole lot more than the rear end...

Congrats on the Transgo install I have a nice pile of parts for ready to go for my tranny work, just waiting on a pan ordered last week. Maybe i'll get to it by September lol.

Just wondering, which servo combo did you with? I'm going w/ the Vette intermediate + the Superior billet one, but have been unsure about using one or none TG spacers w/ that.

I got both Superior products. The Superior 4th gear Super servo and Superior 2nd Super Servo. Those were easy to install.

I got the B&M deep pan transmission pan. My kit was short 6 bolts and the old ones don't fit. B&M are supposed to send me 6 more.

I'm removing the spacers from the 2nd accumulator this next weekend.

Now I'm seriously considering a Whipple supercharger. I have the money saved. Just need some cooler weather to install it.

Did you also drill the 1-2 feed hole? If so even without those washers it'll be stiff on the stock stall... at least you have an excuse to buy a converter.

Hey gamitch, I can't remember if you have a Nelson tune or not. If so, did you have Allen firm up your shifts BEFORE you installed the Transgo? If so, maybe you also need to get an updated tune to account for the increased firmess provided by the TG/servo combination. That is, lower the line pressure. If this doesn't apply to your case, please disregard.

Yeah, I did. It was an accident. Sweat was dripping in my eyes and I noticed AFTER I drilled that this one I did not intend to drill out. Also, drilled the 2-3 shift hole.

Ya think I ought to install a new plate and not drill these 2 holes?

GM, One more thought. Did use use the small drill bit or big one from the kit?

For the $20 with shipping it'll cost you, I would. Also, invest in a small 20" box fan for the garage... best thing to have in the summer.

2-3 and 3-4 are okay, just that 1-2 gets silly hard too quickly for some reason.

You can start in 2nd gear by manually putting the trans into 2nd and taking off from a light. It's sloooow but it won't bang around until you get it fixed internally.
