    Carbed VS EFI

im trying to determine how much power loss will i have with the Edelbrock carb intake versus using the efi system. I'll be swapping a 6.0 3/4 engine into my 99 tahoe. it wont be a daily driver, and the carb kind of goes with the theme of the truck. i'm not looking for the baddest thing around just a simple hp engine. the engine has stock bottom end and AFR heads, the cam hasnt been ordered yet but it wont be huge. how big of a disadvantage will i be at with a carb. the intake part number is #7118, i havent decided for sure but will probably be using a turbo 350 tranny

Many DO not lose any power....just driveability.

yep, your driveability and mileage will be worse with the carb, but you should make 20-40 more Horses with it..

the truck needs to be streetable but wont be anywhere close to a daily driver, i just thought that tuning being what it is today the carb wouldnt have the potential of the EFI on an LS motor

EFI vs. Carb engine will make same power given same intake air flow.

Carb is easier to keep intake path open so you make more power.

EFI will only help in idle, cold start, mpg and so forth.
EFI with all its intake elbows and MAF and throttle body are more
restrictive so they make a little less power.

Up to you whether having to sit there and pump the gas to get
it started on cold morning or it dieing on you every now then before
engine has warmed up and more power or you want set it and forget EFI.

a very rare cold morning doesnt bother me, Ive never had to sit and pump a gas pedal to keep it going until warm up.
keep in mind its a driver but not a daily driver. im fixing to order the edelbrock intake right
    thanks for the comments guys

Expect to lose low end power with a single plane manifold and more "pooling" of wet fuel in the walls of the manifold but with a good tune with a wideband and someone who knows carbs will definitely gain you more horsepower and potentially more r's
