    Newbie gear ratio question

I have been doing some more mods to my RCSB 03 Z71. Now I want to swap out the 3.73's with 4.10's.

Can I just swap out a complete rear from a 4.10 truck (junkyard) or do I need to do the front diff too?

I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to do it so the wife doesn't find out

different gear ratios + 4wd = exploding transfer case
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

    That is what I figured.

My truck has gotten pretty quick and it sounds great now with the exh. and intake done. My main complaint is that I can't even break the tires loose on dry pavement. How else can I get some extra snap off the line without spending too much?

    My power mods:

    FIPK Intake
    3" Cat back
    e-fans
    hypertech pp3 @93 octane

First thing you do is get rid of the hypercrap and get a real tune.

+1 on getting a custom tune

what size tires are you running? that'll make a difference in what gears will be best.

ps - just as personal advise - keeping secrets from the wife ain't the best idea... she will find out.
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake
    99 Sierra - 5.3 / 5spd

If you have manual fans, DITCH THEM for electrics. Best thing i've done on mine.

UD pulley puts more at wheels.

    Custom tune

After that, things start costin a lot more $$$
